Biosphere Committed 2022; The Biosphere system was created in 1997 by the Responsible Tourism Institute (RTI) from a group of academics, professionals and experts in sustainability, with an MOU with UNESCO, to transmit the United Nations guidelines in an easy and adapted to teach societies what to do, how to do it and how to measure it, in order to achieve lifestyles and models in line with global sustainability principles and goals.
The Biosphere standard is the adaptation of the UNs 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for 2030, through the analysis and indicators of the UNWTO, the Global Compact, the EU indicators and the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
